ZephPlayz is a US-born Canadian gaming YouTuber known for his Roblox and Minecraft gameplay and commentaries. He initially played Minecraft SkyWars and Murder Mystery 2 on Roblox, but later added Minecraft mods and popular Roblox games. While he became inactive on his primary ZephPlayz channel after it was revealed that he faked his Roblox content, he continues to upload on the ZephGamez channel. He is known for his iconic “panda hat” that he wears on his avatar in Roblox.
Career
ZephPlayz joined YouTube with his channel of the same name on August 16, 2015 and uploaded his first video the same day. His early videos were mostly focused on gameplay and Let’s Play videos about Minecraft SkyWars, but he also covered Minecraft parkour mods, Minecraft Turbo Kart Racers, and Minecraft Pixel Painters. Specially after surpassing 500 subscribers, he began to play other Minecraft mods including Minecraft Crazy Walls, Minecraft Survival Games, and Minecraft CTF (Capture The Flag). For a time, he was also a member of the Minecraft server SMPLive.
His first Roblox video was uploaded in April 2016. After discovering Roblox, he primarily played Murder Mystery 2, sometimes with other Roblox YouTubers. As the number of Roblox games increased, he started to play more games, mostly Jailbreak, and also occasionally played games like Roblox Pokémon Brick Bronze. He often collaborated with popular YouTubers PinkSheep and NicsterV.
He began dabbling with music with the release of the Roblox Music Video series in July 2017. He released several more videos in the series, but the video Run Away WIth Me Roblox Music Video (Roblox Animation), uploaded on September 22, 2019, was one of his first real songs and was uploaded to Spotify and iTunes. He subsequently uploaded a Nightcore version of the song, where the video played backward, on November 2, 2019. His music related videos are some of his most viewed videos.
Controversy
ZephPlayz was banned on Roblox for unspecified reasons in October 2017, but later resumed making Roblox content. Much later in June 2020, a YouTuber called Curtified revealed through user last login data that none of his accounts were logged into since August-September 2017, meaning that all his Roblox content was made using fake footage. Despite having over two million subscribers, he lost many loyal fans following the scandal. He got into another controversy after he Tweeted in June 2022, “HUGE W FOR AMERICA TODAY. CHRIST IS KING” after the Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade that protected abortion rights. He subsequently became inactive on his main channel for months, although he secretly made videos on another channel. In September 2022, another YouTuber named Pyndrex accused him of being involved with a group that grooms minors in Roblox.
Family Life
ZephPlayz is originally from America, but later moved to Canada. His older sister made an appearance in one of his Q&A videos, while his younger sister has appeared in several of his videos. He is a practicing Catholic who was interviewed by Fr. Mark Goring in July 2020.
