Tracy Sohn, also known by her online alias saranghoe, is a Canadian social media star of Korean origin who is best known for her YouTube channel saranghoe on which she uploads lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and food content. She is recognized for her Korean themed content, especially food and makeup videos. She is also active on Instagram with the handle @sarang.hoe and TikTok with the handle @tracyy_s.
Early Life
Tracy Sohn obtained a level 10 piano certification from The Royal Conservatory of Music in July 2016. She subsequently played the piano for weekly Sunday mass at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and also helped with the children’s choir between October 2018 and February 2020. She obtained National Lifeguard Certification from Lifesaving Society Canada in June 2019. She served as a lifeguard and swim instructor in Mississauga, Ontario from September 2019 to March 2020. She became a BBA student at The Schulich School of Business under York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2021 and is scheduled to graduate in 2025.
Career
Tracy Sohn joined social media with the alias saranghoe, a play on the Korean word “saranghae”, which means “I love you”. Although she had created her YouTube channel back in July 2014, she was not active on various social media platforms until 2018. In her first YouTube video, titled I was almost a trainee for sm! sm audition experience + tips, posted on February 07, 2018, she talked about how she “almost could've been a trainee” at SM. However, she has since deleted or made the video private. Currently, her earliest video on the channel is ulzzang/ korean inspired makeup tutorial, which was posted on March 19, 2018. After posting a couple more videos, she took a year-long hiatus before coming back in May 2020. She has made videos covering a diverse range of topics including vlogs, fashion hauls, lifestyle videos, makeup tutorials, and food videos. Her most popular series is titled what I eat in a week (Korean & realistic) and has had more than a dozen installments so far.
She started to post pictures on her @sarang.hoe Instagram profile in August 2018 and shared a set of selfies captioned "who dat who dat who dat boyy”, but she seems to have deleted those early posts. She cosplayed as Yumeko Jabami from the anime series Kakegurui in 2020. On Instagram, she has collaborated with beauty and fashion brands such as CLIO Cosmetics, Foreo, Yesstyle, Zaful, and OLENS. On YouTube, her notable partnerships were with brands like BetterHelp, Grammarly, Notion, HelloFresh, and Casetify. She has also made several videos about the Princess Polly fashion store.
Family Life
Tracy Sohn was born into a Korean family in Canada. She has a sister named Jamie, who has appeared in a video on her YouTube channel in December 2020. She is bilingual and is proficient in English and Korean, while also having limited working proficiency in Spanish. She is a fan of the anime Haikyu!! which features art by Haruichi Furudate.
