Toby Turner, better known by his alias Tobuscus, is an American YouTuber and actor who is best known for his videos on his main channel Tobuscus, secondary channel TobyTurner and his gaming channel TobyGames. He also collaborated with Philip DeFranco on the channels Like Totally Awesome and Cute Win Fail, and worked with Machinima and Maker Studios. He has also acted in films, television, web shows and games.

Early Life

Toby Turner took piano lessons until he was 14 and later learned to play more instruments including the guitar. He graduated from Niceville High School in Florida in 2003 and then obtained a degree in telecommunication production from the University of Florida. He was always passionate about acting, and when he expressed his desire to pursue YouTube, his mother took out a loan and bought him a video camera.

Career

Toby Turner joined YouTube on May 14, 2006 with the channel Tobuscus and uploaded a sketch based on the 2006 film Click. He made more film reenactments, parody videos and songs, including a video called Don't Tase Me, Bro! about the University of Florida Taser incident in which his friend Andrew Meyer was stunned. The video is one of his early popular videos. He continued to make more comedic skits and animated sketches, and gained popularity for videos like I Can Swing My Sword, Safety Torch and Nugget In A Biscuit.

He had a secondary channel called TobyTurner, which he started in 2009 to upload LazyVlogs about his personal life. In July 2010, he created another channel called TobyGames where he posted videos featuring games like Minecraft, Skyrim, Happy Wheels, Slender, and Walking Dead. He also created a series of shorts called TobyGames Highlights.

He pursued an acting career alongside YouTube starting in 2008 when he appeared in the television series Stranger Things. Following an appearance on the short web video Russian Recommendations, he made his film debut in the lead role of the 2010 movie New Low. Since then, he has appeared in minor roles in films such as Smiley, Bob Thunder: Internet Assassin and The Great Gilly Hopkins. In 2012-14, he was a series regular on the animated series The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange.

Family Life

Tobias Joseph "Toby" Turner was born to Jackie and William Turner and grew up with a brother named Billy and a sister named Angie. In the past, he has dated several women including Amelia Talon, April Fletcher, Olga Kay, Clare Lourdes, Tara Babcock, Kate Elliott, Melanie Murphy and Jaclyn Glenn.

Controversy

In 2016, Toby Turner’s ex-girlfriend April Fletcher made several allegations against him, including drug addiction, cheating, and drugging and raping his partners including her. Subsequently, several of his ex-girlfriends, including Amelia Talon and Jaclyn Glenn, corroborated the allegations, although Olga Kay and Melanie Murphy denied ever being sexually assaulted. His frequent collaborator Philip DeFranco also acknowledged his drug problem and non-monogamous relationships. However, he dubbed the allegations as fake in videos published in April 2016 and June 2018.
