TimTom is an American YouTube animator best known for his self-titled YouTube channel. He tried all sorts of content including sketch comedy, machinima, standup comedy, vlogs, educational videos, and gaming content for a decade before gaining popularity for his animated storytelling. He also worked under Hank Green and for VidCon. He has collaborated with several other YouTube animators like Jaiden Animations, tanimayto, GingerPale, SomeThingElseYT, and Let Me Explain Studios.

Career

TimTom was in the eighth grade when his friend and fellow YouTuber Jeremy convinced some friends, including him, to make videos for his YouTube channel, Rock In The Head Productions. TimTom was already aware of video content from watching websites like Albino Blacksheep since childhood and promptly agreed, and they started making sketch comedy videos. A fan of the Halo video game series, he also ran a gaming channel with his friends.

On March 25, 2011, he created a third channel called TimTomIsAwesome which he used to showcase his comedic skills. However, by this time he was more interested in becoming a standup comedian than making sketch comedy videos and had posted a video of his performance titled High School Standup. He was still interested in gaming and wanted to become a game developer, so he worked on a few indie game projects after school. Around 2012, when educational channels like VSauce, CGP Grey and Crash Course were becoming very popular on YouTube, TimTom again changed course and made a fourth, educational YouTube channel, which earned him some attention.

In September 2013, he applied for a job to work with one of his YouTube heroes, Hank Green, and was accepted. He moved to Montana and worked at the DFTBA Records warehouse, did graphics work for the SciShow YouTube channel, and even managed ticket sales and registration for the yearly event VidCon. He worked for VidCon from late 2013 to early 2016, but left because he felt out-of-place. He subsequently combined his passion for YouTube and gaming by creating his fifth channel, tapindie, on June 2, 2016, to make game development analysis videos. Although it became his most successful channel till then, with nearly a thousand subscribers, he shifted focus to standup comedy within a few months.

Throughout 2016, animation-focused vlogging channels like TheOdd1sOut and Jaiden Animations were becoming very popular, and TimTom was quickly inspired to become an animated storyteller despite not knowing how to animate. Undaunted, he taught himself animation and launched his sixth channel, TimTom, on August 24, 2016. He started uploading videos in early September, but the channel did not gain momentum until his third video, titled Skipping School, featuring TheOdd1sOut. Shortly after, he gained over 22k subscribers in one day. He continued to collaborate with several other YouTube animators and also hired YouTuber Illymation as a full-fledged animation assistant in mid-2018, following which his video output increased considerably.
