Tati Westbrook is an American YouTuber and makeup artist best known for her YouTube channel, Tati, on which she posts beauty hauls, tips, tutorials, and reviews. She is also active on other social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. She gained attention in 2019 due to her public feud with fellow beauty YouTuber James Charles and had taken a long break from YouTube before returning in June 2021.

Career

Tati Westbrook, who previously served as an image consultant and Hollywood makeup artist and stylist, started her YouTube journey on November 7, 2010, with the channel GlamLifeGuru, which was later renamed to Tati. One of the earliest YouTube beauty vloggers, she covered product reviews, tutorials, makeup challenges, and life vlogs and crossed the one-million subscriber milestone in early 2016. She founded her own company, Halo Beauty Inc., in February 2018 to sell multivitamin supplements for hair, skin, and nails. In October 2019, she launched a cosmetic line called Tati Beauty, and the first product from the brand: textured neutrals eye shadow palette. However, she announced in November 2021 that Tati Beauty will close due to the COVID-19 pandemic and legal troubles.

Controversy

On her YouTube channel, Tati Westbrook often collaborated with fellow beauty YouTuber James Charles, who even called her “mom”. They were so close that he did her makeup at her wedding. She also promoted his channel and products regularly, which changed after James shared a short video from Coachella in April 2019 promoting Sugar Bear Hair, a direct competitor to Tati's supplement brand. Tati expressed her displeasure through a cryptic message on her Instagram story, following which James apologized to her in his own Instagram story, stating that he promoted the brand due to their favors with security at the event. Meanwhile, another YouTuber named Gabriel Zamora criticized Tati for expecting James not to promote any other brand in his own video.

Tati posted a 43-minute YouTube video titled BYE SISTER... on May 10, 2019 in which she revealed several reasons why her relationship with James was strained irrespective of the advertising incident, and made the bombshell accusation that he preyed on heterosexual men. Within a week, she gained four million subscribers, while James lost about three million. However, she lost over a million subscribers after James uploaded the video No More Lies on May 18 addressing every one of Tati's claims against him with screenshots of texts, and messages. She subsequently announced taking a break from the internet on Instagram and later made the YouTube video Breaking My Silence..., on June 30, 2020, in which she blamed YouTubers Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star for manipulating her into making the video against Charles. She was also sued by former business partner and co-founder of Halo Beauty in October 2020.

Family Life

Tati Westbrook, born as Tatiana Aleksandra Krievinsand, is of Latvian ancestry. She married James Westbrook in 2017 and has a stepson named Taylor through the marriage. Both her husband and stepson have appeared on her channel.
