Tara Michelle is a Canadian YouTuber and entrepreneur who is the founder of the lifestyle brand Tara Michelle, which provides young women with topical Life & Style information and entertainment. She started her career as a YouTuber on the channel imtaramichelle and also had a second vlogging channel called Tara Michelle Vlogz, which has been renamed to Tara Michelle's OLD VLOGS because she no longer posts new content on it.
Early Life
Although Tara Michelle was not very good at academics, she excelled in extracurricular activities in school. She had enrolled into Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada in 2013 to pursue a degree in Communication and Media Studies, but wanted to pursue a more creative path. She convinced her parents to let her relocate to Los Angeles, California, at 19, and later obtained a degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2015.
Career
Tara Michelle initially started expressing her opinions through the blogging site Tumblr in 2011. She created her YouTube channel, imtaramichelle, as a hobby in March 2013, when she was still in high school. Earlier, her YouTube content covered trending and popular challenges and tags on YouTube, but after shifting to Los Angeles, she started making videos on more personal topics, covering her daily routines, and clothing, food and spending habits. She faced the question “What are you wearing?” so many times from her fans that she started offering up her personal fashion picks on Poshmark, a sort of Craigslist for clothes, allowing fans to essentially buy clothes directly from her closet.
The venture was so successful that Tara, who always dreamed about doing something in fashion, discussed with her father her plans to launch her own curated clothing shop. The result was the digital boutique, Imagine It Yours, launched in March 2020. It became successful thanks to the fact that she had amassed about a million subscribers on YouTube, who helped her build her brand. Shortly after its one year anniversary, she revealed through the video addressing what's going on with my clothing store... that she was not happy with the lack of inclusivity of her shop, including lack of control over outfit sizes, and that it only shipped in the US, and not even her home country Canada. She stated that she had stopped launching new product because she was reimagining her brand. She later re-launched her brand, Tara Michelle, through the website imtaramichelle.com, which included an online shop and her blogs covering fashion, lifestyle and travel.
Family Life
Tara Michelle began dating American YouTuber Taylor Baxter in 2016, but the couple broke up in 2018. She later started dating a man called Simon, whom she knew for years and described as her “man friend” for a long time before admitting to a relationship. They had a trip to Italy together, but in July 2022, through the video Single Girl Summer, she revealed that they had broken up because they were not compatible for long-term relationships.
