Spencer Elmer is an English social media star, entrepreneur and musician known for his eponymous YouTube channel (previously menezbro and Elmo Films). He has also been popular on other platforms like YouNow, Instagram, and TikTok. He was a part of The Social Climbers group. He also launched the clothing brand Originalityisrare. Since shifting focus towards music, he has released several hit singles and collaborated with artists like ARTAN and JAY1.
Early Life
After enrolling into college, Spencer Elmer was not comfortable there and felt that he was not learning anything significant. He tried to convince his parents to allow him to take a year off so that he could focus on his burgeoning YouTube career, and they eventually relented.
Career
Spencer Elmer created his YouTube channel with the username menezbro on September 27, 2013 and uploaded his first video, 7.5K Packs - FIFA 15 Pack Opening!!, featuring his brother Elliot, on February 17, 2015. He continued to make video game related content and unboxing videos, before starting to experiment with lifestyle vlogs, reaction videos, challenge videos and the like. However, he later deleted most of his earlier videos as his channel began to focus on music. He also created a second channel called Elmo Extra on January 20, 2014 and began making vlog type content. However, he stopped uploading more videos on the channel after posting his 37th vlog on January 9, 2017.
In 2016, his daily routine involved attending school every day from his mother’s house and making videos after returning from school. This changed drastically after he became a part of The Social Climbers web group in 2017 along with fellow YouTubers like Carmie Sellitto (touchdalight), Millie T., Jordan Houston, Ben Morris, Kate Elisabeth, LookingForLewys, and Jacob White. He also moved to London in early 2018 and rented a residence with Carmie and Millie. The members of the group participated in challenges together and appeared in each other’s vlogs, thereby boosting their fan base. He was also popular on the live streaming platform YouNow with the username Spenxerr.
Spencer, who grew up in a musically gifted family, started dabbling in rap and posting freestyles online at 17. In 2019, he collaborated with Ben Hughes on the song Over It – Refix. He released the official video for his single Way I Feel through his YouTube channel in July 2020. It was followed by a collaboration with Aaron Unknown on Down To Stay and hit singles like Audacity and Faces. He was put in the limelight after he featured on London rapper ARTAN’s smash hit She’s A 10 But… He then collaborated with JAY1 on his single Far From Rude in April 2023 and released the visuals of his latest single, Calm Like Kim, on May 31.
Family Life
Spencer Elmer’s father was a Neo-soul and Jazz DJ. He grew up with an elder brother named Elliot who played in a rock band. He is friends with fellow internet personalities like Jack Sims, Joshua Wood Stacey, and Olly Aston.
