Shannon Beveridge is an American YouTuber, actress, photographer, Director, Creative Director, and LGBTQ+ advocate who initially gained popularity on Tumblr for her LGBTQ+ related writings before being convinced to share similar content on YouTube. She often made videos based on her experiences and relationships featuring her partners, including YouTuber Camden Scott, singer-songwriter Cari Fletcher and Becky Missal. She also has two Instagram profiles with the handles @nowthisisliving and @nowthisisfilm.

Early Life

Shannon Beveridge attended Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma, where she was part of a sorority.

Career

Shannon Beveridge, who struggled with opening up about her sexuality especially because of homophobic comments by friends in school, had originally started writing about her feelings on Tumblr, which in turn helped her muster the courage to write a letter to her father explaining her sexuality to him. Many people were inspired by her coming out story and encouraged her to join YouTube in order to make more inspiring videos about her sexuality.

She eventually created the YouTube channel nowthisisliving with her then girlfriend, Camden Scott, on August 27, 2009. She also has a personal Instagram profile, @nowthisisliving, and a separate profile for photography called @nowthisisfilm. She usually made videos explaining LGBTQ+ topics and often talked about her experiences featuring Camden in her videos. As one of the earliest lesbian couples, the two had amassed a dedicated fan base that felt devastated when they announced their break up in 2016. However, they made the video Why We Broke Up together indicating that they still had a cordial relationship.

Also in 2016, she made her acting debut in the short film Piece of Cake. In 2017, she went on the Love Is Love tour with Miles McKenna and Rebecca Black and won a British LGBT Award and a Shorty Award. After starting a relationship with Cari Fletcher, she also starred in the music video of Fletcher's 2017 single Wasted Youth. While the two broke up in 2020, she filmed, directed and starred in music videos for Fletcher's 2020 EP The S(ex) Tapes.

Controversy

Shannon Beveridge and Cari Fletcher’s breakup and the latter’s subsequent songs caused a lot of drama and controversy that split their fan base. While the two appeared together in the music video If I Hated You from The S(ex) Tapes, indicating that they were on good terms, Fletcher later released through TikTok a small part of the song, Becky's So Hot, name-dropping Shannon’s then girlfriend, Becky Missal. While Shannon quickly unfollowed Fletcher on social media and gained sympathy of the fans, Fletcher revealed that Shannon was aware of the lyrics. After Fletcher released the full song, Shannon took things to a new level by selling vintage shirts, exactly as described in the song, for charity. Fans were then convinced that the whole thing was a PR move and lost empathy for Shannon and Becky.

Family Life

Although born in Carrollton, Texas, Shannon Beveridge spent her childhood in Norman, Oklahoma. She later moved to Los Angeles, California.
