Jesse James West is an American fitness trainer, lacrosse player, entrepreneur and social media influencer best known for his eponymous YouTube channel on which he shares fitness tutorials, lacrosse tips and vlogs. He is also active on TikTok and Instagram with the handle @jessejameswest. He has his own clothing brand, Dubs Company, and is also associated with brands Alpha Groom, a plant-based skin care company, and Transparent Labs, a supplement company.
Early Life
Jesse James West excelled in both academics and sports while attending Delsea Regional High School and played lacrosse, which earned him a scholarship to play Division III lacrosse at Montclair State University, where his major was in communications and media. He was initially put on defense because he was obese, but was later moved to higher position because he ran up the field really often, and eventually ended up playing in attack position since eighth grade.
Career
While Jesse James West started weight lifting in eighth grade and fully picked it up in his freshman year, he properly developed his passion for fitness during his college years. He was inspired by bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts like Christian Guzmán and Julian Smith to embark on a journey to transform his body and decided to document his journey through fitness on his self-titled YouTube channel, which was launched on May 16, 2016. He was very clear about his goal as a YouTuber from early on and wanted to provide friendly advice to viewers about anything related to fitness.
His first video on the channel, Welcome to JesseJamesFitness | Chest and Triceps, was uploaded on June 10, 2016. He continued to share fitness tutorials, occasionally shared videos about college lacrosse, and sometimes posted vlogs, too. His video Preparing for College Lacrosse Ep. 1 and his vlog Day In The Life | D1 College Lacrosse were very popular among his fans, while the video How I Lost 15 lbs of Fat in 45 Days | Fast and Efficient, was one of his early most-viewed videos. However, his channel grew slowly until he uploaded the video, Bodybuilder Tries The Rock’s 7,000+ Calorie Cheat Day, on June 9, 2020, which gained millions of views and remains one of the most watched videos on the channel.
He eventually started providing workout and fitness training programs to his viewers, which he often promoted through his TikTok profile @jessejameswest. He is associated with brands like Alpha Groom and Transparent Labs, and has his own merchandise company called Dubs Company. Jesse James West has Puerto Rican and Italian heritage.
