Jalen Brooks is an American social media star who had originally gained fame on Vine and then on musical.ly (now TikTok). However, he was mostly active on his eponymous YouTube channel on which he uploaded all sorts of videos including challenges, pranks, reaction videos, vlogs, story time videos, and Q&As. He announced his retirement from the platform via a video in November 2019. He was also active on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter, but has not updated his profiles for years.

Early Life

Jalen Brooks has been boxing since he was 14 years old although he did not reveal that publicly until his final YouTube video. Despite later earning fame on social media, he eventually left all that and got back into boxing.

Career

Jalen Brooks started his social media journey following in the footsteps of his twin brother Tre Brooks, aka curlyheadtre, who had earned a massive following by sharing lip-sync videos on Vine and TikTok (then known as musical.ly). Jalen started out on the Vine account @JayFamous on which he gained a considerable fan following. However, he earned fame more quickly by sharing lip-sync videos on musical.ly like his brother, earning over 120,000 fans on his @itstherealjalen account. He was also active on Instagram with various usernames such as Itstherealjalen, beingkingjalen, thereal.jalen and JalenVeVo, but several of his Instagram accounts got deleted. He last posted on the handle @ThatKiidJalen years ago. He joined Twitter in February 2017 and only made two posts the same month.

He Joined YouTube on March 12, 2016 and made his earliest upload, titled JRK Q & A ( Jalen brooks , Reese , ken ) Repost, on May 8, 2017. In the following years, he continued to post typical YouTube videos covering challenges, pranks, reaction videos, vlogs, story time videos, Q&As and such, often featuring his brother Tre. On January 21, 2019, he uploaded a video titled I’m Done With YouTube... Prank On My twin brother *He Got Mad*, in which he told Tre that he would quit YouTube to do a regular job. While that video was for pranking, after posting another prank video, he took a break from YouTube. He subsequently uploaded a video titled Is This My Last YouTube Video...? on November 27, 2019 and this time it turned out to be true. In the video, he explained that he had lost the fun of doing YouTube and did not feel like pranking his family members for views, which appeared fake to him. He further clarified that he had re-started boxing training in the past few months and may continue to vlog about boxing in the future, although he never posted anything on YouTube since then. He also doesn’t seem to be active on any other social media platform currently.
