Irish YouTuber, gamer, entrepreneur, voice actor, and vlogger, Jacksepticeye shot to fame with his gaming content on his popular YouTube channel. While his channel initially showcased content on games such as GTA and God of War, he later also posted life vlogs and reactions to scary videos and TikTok clips. He co-owns a clothing brand and has launched a coffee brand too.
Early Life
Jacksepticeye, also known as Jack, Jackaboy, and Spedicy, is from Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland, and now lives in Brighton, UK. He was born Seán William McLoughlin.
He got his nickname, Jack, from his mother and siblings. Apparently, Seán is the Irish version of John, and people named John are mostly nicknamed Jack in the UK.
Interestingly, he also got his online pseudonym, JackSepticEye, in childhood. Apparently, he was injured when a football hit his face. Since he was wearing glasses, his eye become infected. A bully in school soon began calling him Jack Septic Eye.
Jack initially studied Music Technology at Limerick Institute of Technology but soon dropped out. He then got a Hotel Management degree from Athlone Institute of Technology. He also played drums for the indie metalcore band Raised to the Ground.
Social Media Career
Jack is best known for his popular YouTube gaming channel, Jacksepticeye, which he launched on February 24, 2007. He initially posted content exclusively on games such as GTA, Five Nights at Freddy's, and God of War. He later moved on to life vlogs, commentary on TikTok videos, and reactions to scary videos. His fans love his funny Let’s Play series.
In 2013, he won a PewDiePie shout-out competition. His mascot, Jacksepticeye, consists of a green eye with a blue iris. He also uses multiple alter-egos.
Over the years, he has collaborated with many well-known YouTubers, including PewDiePie. One of Jack’s best-known videos is Mirror's Edge with the Oculus Rift.
In 2018, he bagged a deal with Disney to make exclusive Twitch content. He is equally popular on Instagram and Twitter and has over 7 million followers on Instagram.
He co-owns the clothing company CLOAK with Markiplier and is the founder of the coffee brand Top of the Mornin Coffee. He is also known for swearing in his videos and for his catchphrase, “Top of the mornin’ to ya laddies! My name is Jacksepticeye!” In 2020, he thought of ending his YouTube career.
Family Life
Jack grew up with 4 siblings: 2 brothers, Malcolm and Simon, and 2 sisters, Allison and Susan. Malcolm, is an author.
Jack lost his father, John McLoughlin, in January 2021. He is close to his mother, Florrie.
From 2014 to 2018, he dated Danish blogger, digital artist, and YouTuber Signe Hansen. They apparently met after Jack saw a drawing of him by Signe on Tumblr. He once used one of her drawings as a thumbnail for his fan game.
Jack has also appeared on Signe’s YouTube channel many times. In 2019, he started dating Dutch YouTuber Evelien “Gab” Smolders, also known as Girl Gamer Gab.
He is fond of coloring his hair green.
