Brazilian YouTube legend Felipe Neto has clearly redefined Brazil’s YouTube space with his contribution to the platform. He shot to fame with his funny commentary on his YouTube channel and soon became the first Brazilian to cross the million-subscriber mark on YouTube. He later appeared on TV shows such as Será Que Faz Sentido? and also penned a book that led to the Netflix show My Life Makes No Sense. He founded the YouTube business network Paramaker too.
Early Life
Legendary Brazilian YouTuber Felipe Neto was born Felipe Neto Rodrigues Vieira. As a teenager, he joined theater class and performed at a few shows. By 14 he had launched his own tele-message company, which later went bankrupt.
Social Media Career
Felipe Neto launched his YouTube channel, initially known as Do Not Make Sense!, in May 2006. He, however, began posting on YouTube much later, in April 2010.
His videos consisted of his funny critique of celebrities, films, and regular people. By November 2010, he had amassed 60 million global views through his channel, making it one of the world’s top 500 most-viewed channels on YouTube.
By August 2012, Felipe became the first YouTuber from Brazil to attain the one million subscriber mark. After garnering 400,000 subscribers, his channel made it to the top 100 most-subscribed channels on YouTube. He became the second-most-subscribed Brazilian YouTuber that year, second only to Canal KondZilla. His YouTube channel now has millions of subscribers. He has millions of followers on Instagram too.
He later stepped into the TV, appearing on the show Será Que Faz Sentido? (Does It Make Sense?). By 2011, Felipe had earned his award nominations for the Web Star of the Year award at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and for the Personality of the Year award at the 2010 4º Prêmio Tudo de Bom.
He also won the Vem, Gente! award and the Vlogger of the Year award at the 2011 YouPix event. At the 2011 Prêmio Jovem Brasileiro, he won the Greatest Discovery of the Year on Internet.
Felipe soon founded Paramaker, a YouTube business network focused on streamlining Brazil's online video market. The network grew to manage 5,000 channels.
In October 2015, Felipe sold Paramaker to the French media organization Webmedia. While the company was later headed by Luther Peczanand, Felipe continued to lead its creative department.
Felipe later appeared on the show Até que Faz Sentido! (It Does Make Sense!) At the 2012 YouPix event, he won the Entertainer of the Year award.
By 2013, Felipe had begun to participate in more online series, films, and theater productions. In August 2013, he released his first book, a memoir named Não Faz Sentido! The 2017 Netflix comedy special, My Life Makes No Sense, featured stage representations of real-life stories from his book. Felipe later also attended a three-week course at Harvard University.
Family Life
Not much is known about Felipe’s early family life. However, it is known that his parents supported him and his dreams wholeheartedly during his early years in Rio de Janeiro. He grew up with his brother, Luccas.
