Emerson O'Dell, also known by his online alias whiteboyem, is an American social media star who is mostly known for his YouTube channel whiteboyem, although he has two more secondary channels called whiteboyemily and WhiteBoyEm Shorts. While he posts all sorts of content including vlogs, pranks, challenges, and comedic sketches, he gained popularity for his diss-tracks aimed at fellow YouTuber IShowSpeed.
Early Life
Emerson O'Dell attended South Charleston High School and played football for the Black Eagles. In a Q&A video from July 2022, he revealed that he played football till eighth grade when he got a concussion and was considering switching to basketball. While he insisted already being quite proficient in hooping and dunking, he also mentioned that he still played football in his spare time.
Career
Emerson O'Dell had been watching popular YouTubers like Roman Atwood, CJ SO COOL and FunnyMike since he was a kid and decided to make his own YouTube channel when he was in the fifth grade. He started making YouTube videos about Fortnite and some real life stuff, but later felt that the content was trashy and deleted his old videos, which he regrets. He created his YouTube channel whiteboyem in September 2018. Currently, his oldest video there is titled Lit Summer Pool Vlog! | 2019 from July 2019. He also made vlogs, public interviews, challenge videos, video game content, and mukbang, many of which were filmed in his school.
Unfortunately, as he revealed in the video all my videos are gone… in January 2022, the school authorities eventually apprehended him and suspended him for 10 days, apart from prohibiting him from filming any more videos on the school premises. Furthermore, they summoned his mother to make sure that he deleted all his videos made from school, but she deleted not only his older videos made in school, but most of his other videos as well. Nevertheless, he promised to his viewers that he was not giving up on YouTube and will soon start posting new content.
In the following months, he conducted more public interviews, made vlogs and prank videos, and also made a video about meeting Deestroying in July 2022. The same month, he released the music video WhiteBoyEm - Right Now (IShowSpeed Diss Track) (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) [prod Soulzii], which is still the most popular video on his channel. He also posted a video about streamer Adin Ross reacting to his music video. The music video was very popular and helped him cross 50k subscribers on the channel, following which he hosted a Q&A video for his fans. He was disappointed to learn that many fans thought he copied popular YouTuber IShowSpeed, but insisted that any resemblance could be due to him watching Speed a lot earlier. He subsequently made a second part to his music video, which is his second most popular video.
Family Life
Emerson O'Dell has been featuring a young woman as his best friend for a while and has also made several couple-themed videos with her.
