Daniel Thrasher is an American YouTuber, actor and musician who is best recognized for his piano-based comedy sketches with deadpan humor that he uploads to his self-titled YouTube channel. Although he also uploaded general comedy videos, his videos related to music are the most popular, prompting him to focus on those. Moreover, he has hosted live shows, acted in films and television, and has released several singles and the album Quick and Sketchy.

Early Life

Daniel Thrasher went to Pinellas County Center for the Arts, a magnet school, and later graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts in 2015. He had started working as a barista, but left the job in 2019 to cater to his one million followers on YouTube.

Career

Daniel Thrasher had joined YouTube with the title muffinman3000 back in 2007, although he didn’t upload videos until December 1, 2011. One of his early videos, How I Accidentally Wrote 'The Office' Theme Song, about him coming up with the tune while testing a chord progression on a new piano, posted on November 13, 2012, went viral years later when he was in college, and it remains his third most-viewed video with over 21 million views. Interestingly, several of his popular videos are from a series about him accidentally writing songs that already exist.

He became more regular on the platform after leaving his job in 2019, and during the COVID-19 lockdowns, he consistently posted videos and was able to increase threefold his one million subscribers. He subsequently expanded the size of his operation to a four-person team. He performed a one-day show, Daniel Thrasher: Laugh or Die, at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles on December 1, 2021.

In April 2022, he became the second beneficiary of the Mythical Creator Accelerator fund, set up in 2021 by the comedy duo Rhett & Link of Good Mythical Morning. In August that year, he went on a five-show tour, Daniel Thrasher Live, covering three Midwestern states: Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan. He was nominated at the 2022 Streamy Awards and was a featured creator at VidCon in June 2023.

Daniel Thrasher has been acting in short films since 2010, when he appeared in Cygnus X-1 and Forgiven. Following a few more short film appearances, he acted in an episode of Nerf War: Web-series in 2012. In the following years, he continued to work on more short films before bagging a recurring role in The Millionaires (2016). He went on to work on the film Song of Back and Neck and the series God of Work, and is slated to feature in the upcoming series Dinner with the Parents. Furthermore, he has released several singles starting with Once Upon a Paradise in 2018 to his latest, The Wiener Song, and has also released the album Quick and Sketchy (2019).

Family Life

Daniel Thrasher lives in Los Angeles, California with fellow YouTuber RoomieOfficial. He is in a relationship with a woman named Dakota.
