Callux is an English YouTuber known for his comedic vlogs and collaborations with his friends and fellow YouTubers from England. He is noted for being a part of the popular British YouTube group, the Sidemen, until he was removed in January 2021 for using aggressive language and violence while playing games with his friends. He is the founder and CEO of After Party Studios and notwoways.
Early Life
Callux missed the first two years of schooling due to his battle with leukemia. He later attended Christ's Hospital School in 2003-10. While he was not very academic, he had a creative bent of mind and liked making people laugh and participated in drama. He was also good at sports like football, rugby and especially squash. He dropped out of university to concentrate on YouTube.
Career
Callux was very good at Call of Duty and wanted to show it to the world. He had got an old Acer laptop from his father and recorded himself playing on his TV screen with the Laptop camera. In 2010, he started uploading such videos to the BlackOps channel, where he curated cool and interesting stuff from the game. He continued to upload such content three times a day for one or two years before dropping out of university. Interestingly, the only money he made from it at that point was from Machinima contracts. Fortunately for him, within a week, he was hired by a YouTube network called Base79, which later rebranded to BraveBison. The network’s founder Richard Mansell, who later became his manager, hired Callux on the spot due to his YouTube expertise.
He eventually left the Black Ops channel and launched his current channel, Callux, in April 2012. Callux, who wanted to be different than others and was inspired by the public interviews by fellow British influencer Sam Pepper, started doing street interviews asking people to do animal impressions. It was his second video, called Animal Impressions | In London, which went viral and registered 110k views when he had no subscribers. From there, he became associated with the Sidemen in 2016. Along with Mansell, he co-founded the social video production company After Party Studios in 2016 and the two later collaborated on the sneaker brand notwoways in 2020.
Family Life
Callux was born as Callum Aaron McGinley. At five, he once woke up covered in blood and was subsequently diagnosed with leukemia, for which he underwent chemotherapy. His parents were separated and his father was not around when he was diagnosed or treated for the disease. His mother was so poor that she couldn't afford a house phone. Moreover, there was a problem with addiction in his family.
He was in a five-year-long relationship with YouTube cover artist Sarah Close until they announced their breakup through a YouTube video on October 12, 2019. While a TikTok video went viral in October 2022 showing him in bed with two women, he later clarified that he engineered it to prove how gullible people were.
