Angry Grandma is the online alias of Judy Lynn Jennings who rose to fame on the YouTube channel Angry Grandma for the pranks played on her by her grandson Jake, who maintains the account. She later expanded her reach to cover most popular video types on YouTube like vlogs, challenges, story-time videos, reactions and video game content. She is, however, more popular on her TikTok profile @angrygrandma18 and is also active on her Instagram profile @therealangrygrandma.
Career
Angry Grandma joined YouTube along with her grandson Jake on April 22, 2010, although they didn’t start uploading videos until January 2, 2013, when the first video on the channel, End of The World Prank | Angry Grandma| (HD), was posted. In the video, filmed on December 21, 2012, Jake tried to prank his grandma Judy by waking her up in the middle of the night to tell her that there was an end-of-the-world tsunami coming. Grandma, who hurriedly rushed outside, was furious to see people partying outside and went to bed again after warning Jake not to bother her again. The duo has continued to make such videos ever since.
While the majority of the content on the channel revolved around pranks, grandma also tried out a lot of different things like singing, playing video games, participating in popular challenges, making reaction videos, story-time videos and so on. She also made a series about her learning new words from the Urban Dictionary. Although Jake had created a separate channel called JakeReactsTv in May 2016, he made only one video titled BOXING WITH MY GRANDMA! on the channel and is not active there anymore, but continues to make videos for the main channel. Outside of YouTube, Angry Grandma is also very popular on her TikTok profile @angrygrandma18, where she has millions of fans, and has an Instagram profile with the handle @therealangrygrandma.
Family Life
Angry Grandma was born as Judy Lynn McCartt and was the youngest of 12 siblings. Her father, John Halk McCartt, was a prison guard at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee, and was known as “Captain John” to the inmates. Her mother was Turrah (Beene) McCartt.
Her husband, Frank Hubert Jennings, died a long time ago in 1980. She has at least one son named Jim, who is married to Kim Ward. She also has at least three grandchildren including Jacob "Jake" A. Jennings, who often served as the cameraman for her videos, Carolann who has helped prank her grandma several times, and Shelby. She lived by herself in a small apartment, which could be seen in her early videos. She later moved out to live with Jake in December 2015 and served on neighborhood watch. She and the family eventually moved to a new house in November 2016, although her family moved to another house later. Jake, who has moved out to live on his own, continues to visit her to make videos together. She has acknowledged having a crush on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
