Anas Marwah is a YouTuber well-known as the patriarch of the Anasala Family channel, which also features his wife, Asala, daughter, Mila, and son, Noah. He posts vlogs, pranks, and challenges on the channel and also has a second channel called The Anazala Family where they document their life in the United States. He previously ran The Weekly Show, a satirical show modeled after Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, with fellow Muslim students at Carleton University.

Early Life

Anas Marwah attended Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Career

Anas Marwah created his original self-titled channel on November 17, 2012 and started uploading a series of comedic political videos, The Weekly Show, with Nader Kawash and Maher Barghouthi in 2014. They have been targeted by extremist and terrorist Muslim groups for their irreverent satirical show. However, his original channel now only has a few videos from early 2018 where he introduced his daughter Mila and answered fan questions with Asala. He is now active on the couple’s channel called Anasala Family, which he created with his wife in December 2017. They started making family vlogs, pranks, and challenges on the channel, with a video of him pranking his wife by throwing a doll dressed as their daughter off their balcony, uploaded in September 2018, going viral and earning over 6 million views within three months. The couple created a second YouTube channel, The Anazala Family, in January 2021 to document their life in Los Angles after relocating there. He has been active on Instagram @anas since October 2013.

Controversy

Anas Marwah and his wife Asala, who were expecting their second child together, arranged for lighting up Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building, for the video, BIGGEST GENDER REVEAL IN THE WORLD (BURJ KHALIFA), posted on September 9, 2020. While the couple was teary-eyed as the building lit up in blue with the text “It’s a boy”, netizens were not amused at the timing of their big stunt. The couple had further mentioned that they were planning to move to California, reminding people on social media of the El Dorado wildfire, which started right after a gender reveal party and was raging through that state, torching nearly 14,000 acres of forests. People criticized the massive amount of money (speculated to be $95,000 USD) that was spent to organize the event. Even Jenna Karvunidis, who is recognized as the creator of the gender reveal trend, expressed her regret on Facebook stating, “For the love of God, stop burning things down to tell everyone about your kid’s penis. No one cares but you.”
