Acrello is the online alias of social media star, comedian and musician Jamal Baty who is best known for his TikTok profile @acrello. He also has an eponymous YouTube channel and an Instagram profile @itsacrello. He gained notoriety for the “Leave Acrello Alone” trend that saw his followers spamming the comment on random posts on various social media platforms.
Career
Acrello, known for his comedic videos, pranks, and life hack videos, had originally gained popularity on Vine before it was shut down in January 2017, following which he shifted to other platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. He created his YouTube channel on October 17, 2014. He made his first post on the channel, “Why Kawhi Leonard And The Toronto Raptors Will CRUSH The Golden State Warriors...”, on May 27, 2019. After a few random videos, he dropped the official music video “Mal is Like” in August that year and followed it up with the full album, Malifesto, which he also released through popular music streaming platforms. While he reverted back to posting videos about trending topics on social media, he later released another song, titled “Black Lives Matter”, written in 2017 and recorded in 2019, on June 2, 2020, following the murder of George Floyd.
Even though he initially thought TikTok was cringy, he started using the app out of curiosity and had reached 800K followers on his profile @justacrello, which unfortunately got hacked. He then made another profile, @itsacrello, on which he gained 100k followers within a month and crossed one million followers in four months. However, he only had about 20k subscribers on YouTube and decided to post a couple videos there in August-September 2020, one about why not all TikTokers are cringy, and another explaining his success on the platform. He promised to be more active on YouTube with the goal of achieving 100k subscribers and crossed that milestone shortly after as his TikTok fans swarmed there.
In June 2021, Acrello gained notoriety due to the viral “Leave Acrello Alone” trend that saw random people spamming the comment “leave @Acrello alone” on the posts of people on TikTok, as well as other social media platforms. Acrello’s TikTok profile was private at the time, requiring people to follow him to dig further into the inside joke. However, this turned out to be an elaborate ploy orchestrated by Acrello himself to create drama as he was feeling bored. The plan paid off as many curious people followed his profile, thereby boosting it.
Family Life
Acrello was born in a family of eight siblings and has a younger brother named Jonas. He lives in Houston, Texas but his home state is Michigan. He attended his younger sister’s graduation in Michigan in May 2023. Mostly known as Acrello, he made a GoFundMe fundraiser under his name Jamal Baty in October 2021 after having an accident while taking his girlfriend to a party while drunk.
